CHAPTER FOUR
~Nick~
I arrived
at Chrissy’s sister’s house at about two in the afternoon. Chrissy had
told me to go around to the gate that led to the back yard where the
pool was. I opened up the gate and walked in closing it behind me. I
heard the screaming coming from the pool and immediately knew that it
was Chrissy.
“MADISON! DON’T! PUT ME DOWN!”
Splash!
I laughed to myself as I turned into the
corner to see Chrissy pulling herself out of the pool. Her long hair was
down which because it was wet made it land at her butt. When she turned
around I noticed she was in a neon yellow bikini, which showed off her
nice golden tan. She was a beautiful girl but my feelings for Liz were
too strong for me to pursue anything but a friendship, which was fine
with me because she was perfect in everyway for AJ.
“Hey Nick!”
My thoughts were interrupted when I saw
Chrissy walk up with a towel around her waist.
“Hey Chrissy.” I said as I gave her a hug.
“Look, you’re my boyfriend okay.”
“Huh!?” I noticed she wasn’t even looking
at me when she said that. I looked over her to see a guy who was no more
than an inch or two shorter then her coming towards us. As he got closer
she put her arm around my waist. I had no choice but to play along.
“Hey baby. Where’d ya go? I’ve been
looking for you.” He said when he reached us. She leaned into me more,
which surprised me.
“Hello Robert. This is Nick, my boyfriend.
I went to find him.” She said sincere at first but ended with a
sarcastic tone.
Robert glanced at me and then at her and
ended looking at me. “Aren’t you…”
“Nick Carter.” I finished for him. “Yep.
Here and in the flesh.”
“Chrissy you’ve got to be kidding. You’re
not good enough for a Backstreet Boy.”
I felt her body tense up and immediately
knew I had to get her away from him. “Honey, can we go inside? I need to
talk to you.”
She nodded glaring at Robert the entire
time. I saw her jaw line clench and knew she was biting her tongue. On
our way inside she introduced me to her sister and her sister’s husband.
She had a really loving family from what I put together from meeting
Madison and Kay.
When we reached the guest room up stairs
she exploded. “WHATA JERK!” she yelled in a shaky voice.
“Who was that guy?” I asked calmly trying
to get her to calm down.
“My ex-boyfriend. We broke up three years
ago and he won’t leave me alone. That’s why I told you that you were my
boyfriend. And then he shoots and says I’m no good for you or any of the
other guys. What would he know!” she said with tears of anger spilling
down her face. “By the way, thank you for playing along.”
I walked over and gave her a hug. “Hey
don’t listen to him. If you ask me you’re way to good for any of us.”
She giggled which to me was a good sign. “And no problem. What are
friends for?”
“I honestly don’t know Nick. I don’t have
many friends.”
I was completely shocked at what she had
just said to me. “Why?” was all I could ask.
“I kept to myself because of my childhood
and the first guy I let in used and abused me, so I went back to keeping
to myself.”
I held her or a few more minutes until
there was a knock on the door. Chrissy walked over and answered it.
“Yes Kameron?”
“Robert left. I kicked him out and told
him if he runs his mouth he’d have to pay.”
“Thanks bro.” She said as she hugged him.
He turned his attention to me. “Nick, you must be an awesome friend of
hers to do that for her. You’re welcome here whenever you want.” He
turned his attention back to Chrissy. “Come down soon, ok.”
“Ok.” Chrissy said as he left. She turned
and looked at me. “Let’s go join the fun.”
We got downstairs and it was like she
never missed a beat of the party. We enjoyed the rest of the evening. I
left shortly after midnight knowing Chrissy and I were definitely best
friends and connected in a way I couldn’t describe. I couldn’t wait for
the other guys to get to know her. They would love her just as much as I
do.
