CHAPTER FOUR
Kevin, Brian, A.J. and
Nick all stood, everyone's arms full of golfing gear at the entrance
of Long Stretch Country Club, looking around for the girls. Finally
the walked to the caddy shack to their right and Nick asked the
young girl at the counter, "Are Lucinda and Allie here yet?"
"Allie and who?" the girl repeated, clearly not noticing the who the
guys were.
"Allie William and Lucinda Wilson?" A.J. replied.
"Ohhhh Allie and Luci!" the girl exclaimed, she turned around to
look at the clock behind her. "Well, Allie's late and Luci should be
here in like 2 minutes."
"Nope! We're here!" Luci yelled, as the girls through the entrance.
Suddenly an older man with dark tan skin and graying hair appeared.
"Allison your late." he stated, his voice incredibly deep.
To the guys surprise Luci walked up to the man and hugged him.
"Daddy, it was my fault Allie was late. I'm really sorry." she
apologized, adopting a patronizingly sweet voice.
Mr. Wilson smiled down at his daughter adoringly, "That's okay,
honey, but don't let it happen again." he told her. He looked at the
guys and said to the girl working the caddy shop, "Kathleen
shouldn't you be helping these fellows?" With that he walked away.
"Ahh the perks of being the owner's daughter." Luci laughed, walking
into the shop with Allie.
"I told you he would be here. He's like got it in for me!" Allie
complained, lightly hitting Luci.
"At least you can't get fired. Your Luci's best friend." Kathleen
added, before turning to the guys, "Now what can I do for you?"
"Oh, nah, Kat, they want us as caddies. You get to stay here and
chill with the old dudes." Luci teased, smiling at the guys.
Kathleen rolled her eyes. "Sure just assume that the cute guys want
you." she shot back.
"Actually we do." Nick interrupted, causing Kathleen to laugh.
"Okay...do to the fact that I am lazy you all can come back here and
pick what you need, if you need anything." Luci kidded, opening the
door of the caddy shack.

"Are we walking or taking the golf carts?" Allie asked the guys
about 15 minutes later, walking to the outside of the club into the
early September heat.
"How about the golf carts?" A.J. suggested, putting his arm around
her waist, as the reached the little shed where the golf carts were
kept.
Luci patted her pockets. "Al...? Do you have the keys to the cart
shed?" she sheepishly, as Nick followed, A.J.'s action.
"The door's open." Allie replied, shaking her head, and pulling the
door open.
"I'm gonna take Daddy's golf cart." Luci stated suddenly walking
into the shed. Everyone outside the shed heard to engines start, and
Luci reappeared driving a regular sized golf cart, but it was
equipped with an AM/FM radio.
"Luc we're not allowed to take that out." Allie reminded her as she
retrieved the other cart Luci had started up. It was the same but
without the radio.
"I am." Luci stated. "Whose riding with me?"
"I will." Nick volunteered immediately hopping into the cart with
her.
"I will too." Brian added, getting into the back of the cart."
"Me and Kev'll go with Allie." A.J. told them, as he and Kevin got
into Allie's cart.
Once they started driving Nick asked, "So your dad really owns this?
Are you guys' like loaded?"
Luci laughed, "I guess you could say that. Well at least my dad is.
My mom died when I was 6."
Both guys sat quietly for a minute a bit uncomfortably. "Soo..how
long have you been working here?" Brian inquired interrupting the
silence.
"Since I was 13....Nick are you okay?" Luci responded, watching
Nick. He looked really tired. His eyes were bloodshot, with rings
around them and he looked pale.
"Nick was worshiping the porcelain until pretty early this morning."
Brian supplied. "I guess him not being 21 has affected his alcohol
tolerance."
"Such big words, Brian, for such a little brain." Nick retorted.
"I'm only 19, and I had just as much as Nick had." Luci replied, it
taking her a little while to catch was Brian was saying.
"Your only 19?!" both Brian and Nick exclaimed.
"Yesss..." Luci answered, "And you should have stayed home."
"But I didn't want to miss seeing you." Nick responded, sweetly,
leaning over and kissing her cheek.
"Awww....." Luci replied.
"Luci! You just pasted the first hole!" Brian stated, pointing at
Allie's stopped cart.
"Ooopss." Luci laughed, taking a sharp turn, almost tipping the
cart.
"That is one way to drive a car!" A.J. yelled once they reached a
stop.
"Yes, yes I know." Luci replied, smiling, as she got out of the
cart, got the guys stuff, handed it to them and sat back in the
cart. She pulled out a container of black nail polish, and began to
paint her nails.
"Matches your uniform." Kevin commented walking past the cart. The
girls' uniforms were cotton black pants with a yellow Ralph Lauren
polo t-shirt.
"Thanks." Luci replied, rolling her eyes.

Almost 2 hours later, Luci and Allie sat in a golf cart, waiting for
the guys to finish the 18th hole. "You and A.J. seemed pretty
chummy." Luci said out of nowhere.
"So did you and Nick." Allie retorted, avoiding Luci's glance.
"We're dating. He still hasn't asked you out?"
"Nope."
"He's shy."
"How do you figure? He doesn't seem to shy with you."
"He doesn't like me. He likes you. We are just playing with each
other."
"Oh."
"Why don't you ask him out?"
"NO!" Allie yelled, causing the guys to turn and stare. She smiled
and waved at them and they turned back around, "I can't ask him
out."
"Why not? It's not that hard. You just say 'Will you go out with
me?' It won't kill you." Luci told her.
"No thank you. Asking someone out is the guys' job."
"What century did you come from? Would you like him to ask you if he
can escort you to the medieval fair too?"
"No..I-"
"Hear look I'll call him over."
"No!"
"A.J.!" Luci yelled, summoning him over.
He quickly walked over to the girls with a smile over his face.
"Yeah?"
"Allie wants you to ask her out." Luci stated simply.
"Luci!" Allie hissed her face turning red.
A.J. laughed, "Allie would you like to be my girlfriend?" he asked.
"Sure." Allie answered, smiling.
"See? What that that hard?" Luci interrupted walking away.
"Sorry about that." Allie apologized, "She didn't take her
medication today."
"It's cool. I was going to ask you out today anyway." A.J. informed
her.
